Kittyn's Morbid Concoctions

Now that I have my own blog, where better to store my poetic concoctions? here of course... kekeke

The Black Cat’s Cauldron

A sprinkle of words,
An ounce of rhyme,
Toss it in a sauce of imagery
that’s vivid in your mind.

Pour in a bowl of feelings,
Especially those that make you cry,
Stir in a dose of depression
and the mix is ready to fry.

A generous pinch of sarcasm
and wit that will surprise
In The Black Cat’s Cauldron,
your morbid poems are the prize.

Roses Red

Roses are red,
Violets are blue
Dread filled my head
as I thought of you

Snow is white,
Blood is red,
on this pale wight,
your hunger fed.

Night is dark
Day is bright
Death slowly struck
as you took your bite.

Roses are dead
So are violets too
On my blood you fed
The vampire, you.

Angry Regrets

Brows furrowed,
Eyes narrowed
Our gaze grew stern
A feverish heat burned
Angry words spewed forth to smart
Words that were never from the heart

Tears burned
Faces turned
We both got curt
And feelings got hurt
Speechlessly we grew distant
All good times forgotten in an instant

Sorrow dawned
Regret was born
A moment too late
We’re too quick to hate
For molehills our love we slash
And bear regrets till we turn to ash.

My Love

Across the room, on a fateful day
Your gaze and mine crossed each other’s way
A pleasant smile, a shy hello
Within a while we talked like no tomorrow

The ringing phone made me spin with joy
Knowing you have called, I’m so thrilled, oh boy.
Our first movie, and a popcorn we shared
On that first date, a kiss you dared

Down the street, we walked hand in hand
Dreaming of aims, hopes and a love that’ll never end
On Valentine’s, you pledged you were mine
With roses and a diamond ring, you proposed as we dined

In happiness, the wedding was planned
I thought I’ve finally found my man
With all my heart, I devoted to do
Everything I thought that would be pleasing to you.

To give you a surprise, I paid you a visit
But there is more to you than I know, is it?
In between the sheets, were you on our bed
Another woman to whom, love you made

My world crashed, my heart was broken
I trusted in you, and all the words you’ve spoken
Angry tears flowed, maddening thoughts in my mind
The lesson of betrayal taught me how much I was blind

You asked for forgiveness, admitting you were wrong
But despite years of being together, our love was not strong
You said you loved her, that woman named Laurie
And you couldn’t come back, that you were sorry.

Too hurt to hear, too sad to reply
All I could do was look at you and cry
Packing my belongings, I took my leave
Hoping to pick up the pieces and heal from my grief

A long time it will take for me to trust
But get on with life, to do that I must
To you and Laurie, I can only say
Wish you all happiness and love the rest of your days.

Phone Call

The twinkle in your eye,
That wistful smile,
You break into a grin
as you looked at the dial

With a gentle voice
You answered the phone
Saying sweet nothings
in a tender tone

The cheer of your laugh,
The joy on your face,
The bliss of being in love
Seem all melded in one place

A gentle goodbye
And a promise to meet
You ended your call
As you heard the sound of my feet

Who is it?
Who can it be?
For you were never so happy
if the call were from me

With a sad tear,
With heartbreaking sigh,
Realisation dawned
on this blunt mind

That for some time,
Someone else has come
to take that place
in your heart that was mine.

Walking Away

There you were, walking alone
Eyes looking down, intent on your phone
Oblivious and unknowing
Of the emotions that were flowing
That the sight of you has in my heart grown.

Here I stand, rooted to the ground
Watching your every move, fearing I would be found
Anxious and divided
Should I greet you? I’m undecided
And like hammers my heart began to pound.

Then she comes, running to you
With looks of happiness, coloring her hue
Overjoyed and excited
Walking with you, she looks delighted
As you shower her with love so true

Silently I turned, moving away
Merging into the crowd, without delay
Regretful yet satisfied
That you found true love at your side
Afterall, I was the one who strayed

Email Romance

In anxious anticipation I typed on the keys
Hoping, as I logged on, that your mail I will see
As the mailbox took its sweet time to load
I thought my hope was turning cold

Out popped a window, blinking “You’ve got mail!”
My heart leapt with such joy that I thought it would fail
As I settled myself and began to read
I couldn’t help but wonder about the life you lead

You spoke of your interests and how you had your day
And asked me questions that left me with so much to say
Then I saw a line right at the bottom, seemingly discreet
Asking politely, “I was thinking… shall we meet?”

My feet turned cold and so did my fingers
But on my face I felt a red heat linger
Staring at the mail, frozen as ice
Thinking “Shall I meet him? Will he think I’m nice?”

For months we’ve traded emails long and many
Sharing our thoughts and interests, and you were so canny
In each other we thought we found a soul mate
To meet each other in cyberspace seems an act of fate.

And now, there it is, a request to meet
That face-to-face, for the first time, we’ll greet
A chance to make that destiny alive
To allow that relationship an opportunity to thrive

Why not? With resolution, I said.
Let’s take a chance, what is there to dread?
With a cheerful heart and deft typing skills I apply
I set my destiny with you on my next reply.

An Old Friend

You greeted me with the same cheerful smile,
even after it’s been such a long while
With a twinkle in your eye you said “hello”.
With a gentle voice, soft and mellow.

We chatted and caught up on times of old,
Memories of days long gone we shared and told.
Words flowed with seemingly no effort
As we enjoyed each other’s company and comfort.

We reminisced the days we had together
When all troubles seem light as a feather
We remembered the things that rended us apart
Of forgotten hurts and scars that made us smart

You told of your wife, as gentle as a dove
That no other could you consider your love
Happily married, a caring father too,
Of beautiful children born to you two.

Over the years, you’ve had the happiest of times
Until the somber knell for your wife chimes.
Your babies have grown and found loves of their own,
To form their families, away from you they’ve flown.

Loneliness sets in as you struggled alone,
Depression and sadness you wish to atone.
Silent nights drove you into fear
Of endless days that you may have to endure.

With one once lost, you sought to find,
Some comfort, love and a peace of mind.
You asked me out to meet you here,
For in your heart you still hold me dear.

But never will I, your wife replace,
For I too, have found my love in another place.
To him I’ll give my all till the end
To you, all I can offer is to be your friend.

Nature's Song of Woe

Along a vein bent by time and age,
A long time I suffered a nagging ache
As I struggled under the watery weight,
I stretched hard and heard it break.

A violent shudder went up my spine
And all the way down that aching vein
As I trembled from time and time
My body swelled and surged in pain.

Across the whole that ripple went,
A quiet undercurrent, hidden within.
Gathering force before it is spent
As it coasts, my agony begins.

With mighty swipes and crashing blows,
With a deadly rhythm the current pounds.
Reaching for the highest point it goes,
Amidst the desperate cries and frightful sounds.

The rage is spent and the tide subsides,
As my body is whole again
For the devastation brought to innocent lives
I now cry in vain.

The Lover's Kiss

Gentle is the breeze
that lingers on the lips.
Pureness of the dove
is the expression of love.
Memories thus sweet
now turn to sleet.
Irony seems pale
so sudden that living fails.
Gone was the thrill
leaving a silent chill.
Fingers yearn to hold
the life that has gone cold.
Clear is the stream
of tears longing for a dream.
The cherished will be missed
with this last loving kiss.
