Travelling overseas has its perks and downs... and today just happened to be not my day... First there was a screw-up on my air ticket on friday... so much so that I nearly didn't make it for today's flight to KL. At 6 pm in the evening, while other colleagues were enjoying a wonderful barbecue, I was in the office frantically calling the travel agency to secure a seat for me on today's plane.
Next, a local counterpart here did not get the message of our arrival times. By the time we reached the office to do what we were supposed to do, there was no one to open the door! Yeah i know it's sunday but one got to do what has to be done if the event were on a Monday. And the only person who was holding the key was out of contact till late in the evening. One whole afternoon wasted.
By the time we got a taxi to get to the hotel for check-in, how much worse can it get right?? Then the taxi overheats in the middle of the highway and we were stranded for nearly 45 mins! argh... certainly not my day.
But as twilight approaches, fortune has a way of changing its mind. The taxi driver's friend (also a taxi driver) arrives and sends us to the hotel instead. My colleague managed to contact the person with the key and open the office... so that we can retrieve the neccessary materials for tomorrow's event. And finally, now, I'm relaxing in my room, after a nice hot shower and enjoying my club sandwich...
What a day of misadventures...
